Moving Forward Together: A New Chapter for TWU Local 570
As of July 1, 2026, the newly elected Executive Board assumed its responsibilities with a clear purpose: to restore confidence, strengthen communication, and work diligently to improve the relationship between our union and its membership.
While our official swearing-in ceremony took place on July 20, 2026, the work did not begin there. From the moment we assumed our responsibilities, we have been actively addressing the many challenges facing our Local. We recognize that meaningful change is built through action, consistency, and accountability—not words alone.
One of our highest priorities has been increasing transparency. We are committed to providing members with accurate and timely information whenever possible. While there are matters that require investigation, verification, or must remain confidential until appropriate to release, our goal is to keep the membership informed throughout the process and foster an environment built on trust and open communication.
The Board is currently reviewing several important matters that affect our Local, including the issue of members in good standing, the import process, and operational deficiencies identified across our various stations. These are significant issues that deserve careful attention, and we are committed to ensuring they are reviewed thoroughly and addressed responsibly.
Equally important, we believe that the best solutions come from listening to our members. Since taking office, members of the Executive Board have been communicating with representatives and employees across all stations to better understand the unique challenges each location faces. We are gathering information, hearing concerns firsthand, and seeking practical solutions that will improve representation and the overall member experience.
As part of strengthening that representation, we are encouraged to see new shop stewards stepping up to serve our members in Miami. Their willingness to volunteer their time and advocate for their fellow members is an important step toward building a stronger and more responsive Local. In the coming months, shop steward elections will also be held at each station, giving members the opportunity to elect representatives who will serve as their voice in the workplace. We encourage everyone to participate in this important process and support those willing to serve.
To reinforce our commitment to being present and accessible, the President and Vice President have already traveled to LaGuardia (LGA) and John F. Kennedy (JFK) to meet with members directly, discuss local concerns, and strengthen communication. Plans are also underway for a visit to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) in the near future. These visits reflect our belief that leadership should be present, accessible, and engaged with every station—not just from afar.
We understand that rebuilding confidence takes time. Our commitment is to continue working with integrity, fairness, and dedication while making decisions that serve the best interests of the entire membership. Every member deserves to be heard, respected, and represented.
Although we are still early in this administration, our focus remains clear: listen, communicate, investigate, improve, and deliver meaningful results. The work ahead is significant, but we are committed to approaching every challenge with professionalism, transparency, and a genuine desire to strengthen our Local for every member.
This is only the beginning. Together, we can continue building a stronger, more transparent, and more accountable Local 570—one that listens to its members, addresses challenges head-on, and works every day to earn and maintain your trust.
Stronger Together.
